September 2025: Job Search and Recruitment Fraud

September saw a rise in “Ghost Jobs.” Scammers posted fake remote-work roles on major job boards to harvest resumes and personal data. Some took it further, conducting “interviews” over Telegram and telling the candidate they were hired. The catch? The new employee had to pay for their own “home office equipment” through a specific vendor, with the promise of reimbursement. The vendor was, of course, the scammer, and the “job” never existed, leaving the victim unemployed and out of pocket.
